Why We Ride

There are countless reasons to ride a motorcycle…

Ask 20 people why they ride and you are likely to get 20 different answers! Below are just a few of our favourite reasons for getting on a motorbike and hitting the open road.

RIDING IS ECONOMICAL

Motorcycle riding can be an inexpensive way to get around! While not ALL bikes are inexpensive to buy or maintain, there are MANY options for cheap and fun motorcycles.

For starters, bikes under 751cc are generally much cheaper to insure than other vehicles. My personal experience has been that I pay about two-thirds as much for insurance on my 650cc V-Strom as I do for my car insurance.  And a 400cc or smaller bike is generally less than half the cost of car insurance!

While bikes with large engines can use as much fuel as a small car, buying a bike with an engine below 750cc means that you don’t stop at the gas pump nearly as often. And bikes under 400cc are rarely seen at the gas pump at all!

Electric motorcycles don’t use gas and have zero emissions. Some of them, like the HD Livewire, are crazy fast. Modern electric motorcycles give you the best of both worlds.

RIDING IS FUN

On a motorcycle, no one ever asks “Are we there yet?”

The feel of the wind. The sounds of the city. The lean of the mountain highways. The twist of the throttle. It all combines to make riding a motorcycle an unforgettable experience.

IT’S BOTH A MEANS AND AN END.

Riding a motorcycle can be a means of transportation, getting you from point A to point B, but the road itself is often the destination.

Many new riders buy their first motorcycle or enroll in a motorcycle school to check off a bucket list item after a health scare or to help them battle depression.

Not only does the open road help clear your mind, it often leads to new friends.
